Can I get out an embezzlement charge caused over $26?

I was charged for embezzlement for taking $26. I did fess up to my employer that I did take the money because of financial issues and it was a very bad decision I made. I ended up getting arrested and now have a charge under my belt. I am only 19 and had a clean record before this. I was a good employee and student but was going through some hard times. I don't want this stupid mistake I made mess up my entire life. Is there any way I can get out of this charge despite me admitting to taking the money?
